About Us

In the beginning, the Coalition for a Feminist Agenda was comprised of four feminists (Joanne Baker, Coralie McLean, Chantal Oxenham and Betty McLellan) living in Townsville on the north-east coast of Australia. We came together in 2001 for the purpose of organising an International Women’s Conference based on feminist principles and then went on to organise several other national and international feminist events throughout that decade.

Since those early years, the Coalition (still firmly situated in Townsville) has expanded to include members of the Townsville Feminist Collective as well as a range of other groups and organisations committed to our stated aims. Through the various involvements of our members around the State (Queensland) and across the Nation, the Coalition for a Feminist Agenda agitates always for the inclusion of a feminist agenda in all political and community discussions.
